Going the extra mile
"Back in September 2017, I decided to leave a job that I loved to try and make a difference in the vehicle logistics industry after serving over 20 years in the motor trade. Throughout this time it became apparent that customers weren’t getting the kind of service that was needed.
I accidentally veered down a different path until May 2018 when I decided to really make a go of it with a 2003 truck I had paid just £3000 for. Many people said I was mad and that there was no money to be earned in the transport game running 3.5t trucks. Me being me, I didn’t listen.
In September 2019 I got offered the chance to buy 2 newer trucks. I didn’t have the money but assured the vendor (a very good friend) that if he let me take them I would guarantee payment for them both within 6 months. At this point I also took on my first driver, again most said I was mad. I knocked on doors and kept on knocking until someone answered. I promised a service that they would be happy with and always ensured we would go the extra mile to complete all jobs.
We worked mental hours sometimes doing 18 hours a day to make everyone happy. Throughout this time I barely took a wage and invested everything back into the business. The money was paid back in 3 months.
I saved like mad and bought a 3rd truck. It went like this until we had 5 trucks in August 2020. In September 2020 Elite Vehicle Transport was set up as a limited company. I set a target of 3,380 cars for the financial year and after just turning 1 year old we had absolutely smashed the target and moved 6,877 cars in single movements for the year. We now have a fleet of 14 trucks, 2 towing Jeeps and 3 trailers, with another 2 trucks coming in the near future. With new stock arriving in the first quarter of 2022 helping us to really make a go of it and stand out from the rest.
We have teams based in Wakefield, Bristol, Essex and Scotland and in the coming months, we’ll be targeting the midlands to give us full UK coverage and enable us to collect and deliver more efficiently.
Anyone the knows me personally will know that posting things like this embarrasses me but yes I’m proud. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without a lot of you, staff and customers alike. The support and advice I’ve been given over the last 2 years have been amazing. I want to thank everyone for helping me get to where I am today.
